Renovation of an educational facility in Corvallis, Oregon. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Oregon State University ("OSU" and/or "Owner") is conducting a competitive ONE OR TWOSTEP Request for Proposals (RFP) process to retain One or multiple firms to provide furniture and related services for its Weatherford Hall and West Hall buildings (the "Project"). Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon is located within the traditional homelands of the Mary's River or Ampinefu Band of Kalapuya. Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 (Kalapuya etc. Treaty), Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to reservations in Western Oregon. Today, living descendants of these people are a part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians. The university's 570-acre main campus is located in the city of Corvallis, a vibrant college town of nearly 58,000 in the heart of Western Oregon's Willamette Valley. Corvallis consistently ranks among the safest, most highly educated and greenest small cities in the nation. University Housing & Dining Services (UHDS) recognizes the importance of learning both in and out of the classroom and supports the concept of education as an individual as well as a community experience. UHDS strives to provide students, faculty, staff, and guests with safe, economical, convenient, and comfortable living and dining options, and the department works to maintain the highest educational and service standards. UHDS houses over 5,400 students and offers a variety of living and dining options in 15 residence halls, three dining centers, 10-14 retail and coffee shop locations across campus, a market, and apartments. UHDS is an auxiliary enterprise with an annual budget of over $90 million dollars which is funded solely by customers who use our services -- we receive no State or General fund allocation. Weatherford Hall - 300 SW 26th Street, Corvallis, OR, 97331 o Built in only six months, Weatherford Hall opened in 1928 as the men's dormitory, housing up to 344 men. Designed by architects John Bennes and Harry Herzog to be part of a dormitory quad, it was the only building from the quad grand plan to actually be built. Weatherford residents were known for their creativity and developed the first intranet on campus (which allowed multiple students to print from the same printer), tapped into the steam pipes in the basement to build a sauna, created lofts in their rooms, and painted their room doors a fanciful assortment of beverage labels, record labels, and abstract art. It was closed in 1994, but thanks to support from Joan and Ken Austin ('53) it underwent a complete renovation, reopening in 2004 as a College of Business living-learning community known as the Austin Entrepreneurship Program (AEP). In 2016, building on the success of AEP and its strong entrepreneurial heritage, the college launched Innovation Nation, a first-year living-learning program for business students in Weatherford, and InnovationX, the college's emerging Center of Excellence for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. James K. Weatherford, for whom the tower and later the whole building was named, was a prominent defense attorney in the Pacific Northwest. He was part of the third graduating class (1872) and served on the Oregon Agricultural College Board of Regents for many years. Weatherford currently exists where the Poultry Building sat from 1893-1928. o West Hall - 391 SW 30th Street, Corvallis, OR, 97331 o Built in 1960 and renovated in 1997, this residence hall and dining complex is named for Oswald West, the 14th governor of Oregon. He is credited with establishing Oregon's highway system and the beach highway law that protects public access to the high-water line of Oregon's beaches. Scope of Services.
