Site work and new construction of a swimming pool in Red Deer, Alberta. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 159,000-square-foot, two-story above grade swimming pool.
Plans call for construction of an aquatic facility that supports the hosting of various levels of aquatic sport, sport competition and training and services. The facility will include a 53M x 25M pool with 10 lanes, ranging in depth from 2.5M to 3.8M; a 25M x 20.6M pool with eight lanes. Two hot tubs, steam and sauna amenities, universal change rooms, spectator seating for up to 750 people, storage, sport group dryland training area, and staff supports. The Aquatic Centre will be building at the Michener North Lands, off of 30th Ave. TIMELINE: Project is conceptual. The project site has yet to be purchased from the province. Further update may be available in 2025. Total project cost is estimated at $108 million (2023 dollars). A Business case study has been completed by Counsilman-Hunsacker. A conceptual planning and design report was completed by MJMA Architects.
