Site work and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Bradenton, Florida. Design plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel.
The project consists of a new fixed-span, high-level bridge with 65 feet of vertical clearance. The project also calls for improvements to State Road 64, including the addition of 10-foot sidewalks and 7-foot-wide bike lanes. As of March 23, 2022, phase two of design work has been approved. Phase three of design should be completed late summer 2022; however, the project is then expected to go on long-term hold pending funding. There will be four phases of design before bids are let. Design work is not expected to be completed before late 2027. Construction is not anticipated to begin prior to early 2028.
