The Project or Work consists of the construction of sanitary sewer flow diversions at four City of Newport News gravity sewer connections (46th Street, 38th Street, 34th Street, and 31st Street) currently contributing flow to the 46th Street Diversion Sewer, which is the sewer trunk line located within the Huntington Ingalls-Newport News Shipyard (HI-NNS). This includes the construction of approximately 500 feet of 42-inch steel casing pipe and 24-inch City gravity sewer by Microtunnel, the construction of approximately 1,800 feet of City gravity sewer by open cut, installation and rehabilitation of City sewer laterals, the construction of a City lift station including approximately 420 feet of 2-inch force main, and the abandonment of approximately 1,100 feet of gravity sewer ranging in size from 4-inches to 24-inches in diameter. The project work also consists of the replacement of a section of HRSD's West Avenue and 35th Street interceptor force main. This includes the construction of approximately 1,000 feet of HRSD force main (primarily 20-inches in diameter) and the abandonment of approximately 1,160 feet of HRSD force main (primarily 20-inches in diameter). The project work also consists of four Newport News Waterworks (NNWW) water main offsets with a combined approximate length of 260 feet. This includes the abandonment of sections of water main, as necessary, upon completion of the offsets A Bid Bond in the amount of 5 percent of the Bid shall be submitted electronically with each Bid. This project is being funded in part under the Virginia Clean Water Revolving Loan Fund (VCWRLF). Bidders shall comply with the President's Executive Order No. 11246 (Prohibiting discrimination in employment regarding race, color, creed, sex or national origin), No. 12138 and No. 11625 (Regarding MBE/WBE utilization). Bidders shall also comply with the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Bidders must certify that they do not and will not maintain or provide for their employees any facilities that are segregated on basis of race, color, creed or national origin.
