Site work, new construction and renovation of a library in Cedar Park, Texas. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library; for the construction of a 40,000-square-foot library; and for site work for a library.
As of April 12, 2023, project has been under construction since December of 2022. The owner has selected a Construction Manager. The City of Cedar Park is seeking Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from qualified architectural firms to provide the services described in this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a new multi-story Public Library located within the Bell District, a public-private redevelopment project between the City of Cedar Park and RedLeaf Properties, LLC. Project Development will include in-depth coordination with the Citys Construction Manager at-Risk (CMAR), to be selected separately by the City, and the overall Bell District Project Team comprised of various City staff. Interested firms are asked to submit a SOQ which includes information on the firms experience in the design and construction of other municipal libraries or similarly sized and scoped municipal projects. The statement should also include information regarding the firms experience with the CMAR delivery method on other public projects, the firms approach to the programming, design, and construction phase services on municipal projects, and experience on designing projects involving coordination with adjacent projects as part of an overall development or participation in Mixed Use Developments and/or Public Private Partnerships. Considerations should also be made and information should be provided concerning the firms approach to all phases of design, pre-construction coordination and services, construction administration, and any other services necessary to successfully complete the project. A construction budget of $22,000,000 has been allocated to a new multi-story approximately 40,000 square foot library facility that will allow for greater program flexibility throughout. The library should provide inviting spaces for kids, teens, tweens, adults, seniors, families, students, retired people, and business people, and include reading nooks, quiet individual workspaces, and collaborative workspaces. Additionally, the library should include innovative technology, a variety of seating options, diverse lighting levels, different sound levels, indoor spaces, outdoor spaces, and accessibility for all users. Meeting and programming space should also be available for both large and small meetings with easy-to-use technology and many options for flexible use. Guiding principles for the Library have been established for this project and are included in Appendix B of this RFQ.
