Plan, design and construct a new senior citizens' facility (1,700 sq ft/pour cement slab construction-exterior and wood frame construction-interior). The project will be constructed on chapter house property. Currently, the Senior Citizen population is growing and the current building is using the former head-start which about 32 years old. The building is undersized for the number of seniors being served. Approximately 30 seniors from the community are served and addition seniors from the community of Thoreau. Phase I has consisted of obtaining the archaeological clearance and environmental studies which has been completed. Phase II consists of the planning, design, and groundwork for the building. Phase III will include the construction of the Senior Citizens Building and purchase of equipment. purchase of furnishings and (tables, chairs, office desks, furniture, television set, treadmill, exercise bicycle, and commercial kitchen appliances). Navajo Division of Aging & Long Term Care Support will follow the Navajo Nation and State of New Mexico procurement laws. The purchase will bid out to vendors and then a vendor will be selected. Casamero Lake Chapter will own and maintain the building, NN Division of Aging & Long Term Care Support will operate the center, and the Navajo Nation will be the fiscal agent.
