Site work and new construction of a civil project in Hillsdale, Ontario. Completed plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel.
Interchange improvements, including off-ramp and roadwork upgrades. Replace existing overpass bridge structures at Highway 400/Essa Road (Site 30-178) with structures of sufficient span to accommodate the widening of Essa Road from four to six lanes plus speed change lanes, an eastbound left turn lane (into carpool lot), a centre median and sidewalk on both sides. Reconfigure the Highway 400/ Essa Road Interchange to Parclo-A4 type interchange with a new W-S ramp and associated structure to grade separate ramp from existing 2-lane access road to Zehr's in the southwest quadrant of interchange. Design all necessary ramps to tie into the existing 6-lane configuration of Highway 400, while minimizing reconstruction when the highway expands to 10-lanes. Intersection improvements on Essa Road and widening of Essa Road from 4 to 6 lanes from west of Bryne Drive/Ardagh Road to east of Fairview Road (to be cost shared with the City of Barrie). Install provisions for future High Mast Lighting within the Highway 400 median. Replace median box beam barrier with tall wall barrier. Replace median storm sewer to accommodate ultimate 10-lane cross-section of Highway 400. Mill and resurface Highway 400, interchange ramps and Essa Road within project limits. TIMELINE: The contractor mobilized on site early June, 2022. As of mid-June, 2022 construction is underway, completion is expected late 2024.
