New construction of a mixed-use development in Concord, Ontario. Design plans call for the construction of a recreation facility; office development; and theater / auditorium.

Construction of a performing and cultural arts center that may house spaces for a live performance theater, secondary halls, stage set workshop spaces, parking, public galleries and exhibition space, administrative offices, classrooms/studios/rehearsal spaces, public spaces, outdoor event stages, and green spaces. In addition to being an economic development and tourism catalyst, this type of facility promotes social and economic inclusive and cohesion in the community. TIMELINE: The architect completed a feasibility study and concept plan evaluating market, operational, financial, economic and social impact analyses of a multi-use, broadcast ready, facility. The study has been forwarded to the owner for approval late 2019. In March 2021 the Vaughan City Council has approved the implementation of future development of the Cultural Arts Centre at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC). An RFP is being developed for a Phase Two - Site Selection and Development scope of work to build on the findings of Phase One and inform the ongoing VMC Secondary Plan Update, which is expected to be released in late 2024/early 2025. Detailed design and working drawings timing and future construction projects will be finalized based on funding approval and the owner's decision to proceed.
