Addition and alterations to the hospital emergency department. The scope of the project includes a 300,000 ft2 LEED certified expansion of the emergency department and laboratory sector and installation of an emergency observation unit. The project also includes the reorganization and improvement of the mental health care department, installation of psychiatric outpatient clinics, psychiatric brief intervention beds and mental health beds. In addition, the short hospitalization unit will be set up in the new premises. The pediatrics and perinatal sectors are also part of the project. Following the project realization the number of hospital beds will be increased from 363 to 415. The new emergency department will have new 40 emergency stretchers. The project will also include upgrades and alterations to the existing emergency areas. TIMELINE: The owner expects that the project implementation will be phased. Following the completion of a real estate analysis of existing facilities the owner has issued and awarded a consortium of architectural and engineering professional consultant to provide design and monitoring of the main construction phase that is now followed in the report under CRM ID name 1333 Jacques-Cartier Boulevard, Longeuil Expansion - Project 523822. Subsequent project phases will be followed if/when their design starts is new separate reports. Coverage of this report has been discontinued. Notes: - Members of the Quebec Parliament launched on May 9, 2024 a petition to the National Assembly urging the Quebec government to approve the second phase of the Pierre-Boucher Hospital expansion and modernization project. - The project value including new construction, equipment and additional work is expected to be as high as $350 million. - According to the owner's preliminary scheduling construction will start in June 2026 and will be completed in May 2029.
