Renovation of a power facility in Revelstoke, British Columbia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a power facility.
Supply and installation of a 500 megawatt unit in the existing empty Unit Six bay; construction of a new capacitor station west of Summerland; upgrades to the existing Nicola sub-station; exposed steel penstock; vertical shaft Francis turbine with a maximum discharge capacity of 400 cubic metres per second; umbrella type generator; generator transformer, switchgear and associated equipment; additional mechanical and electrical equipment; contractor's offices; parking and lay down areas; aggregate storage. Location: On the Columbia River, 5 Km N upstream of Revelstoke, BC. TIMELINE: Project is in a competitive energy procurement process carrying on from 2024, BC Hydro seeks to acquire electricity purchase agreements by early 2026. Tender timelines are undetermined. The project is planned start construction in spring 2026; For Revelstoke, following the start of construction on the dam's sixth unit next spring, the utility expects the project to elapse over seven years, through to the end of 2032. An update may be available in early, 2026.
