Saving Project...

New construction of a mixed-use development in Oshawa, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a transportation facility.

Construction of a passenger terminal. The project will proceed as part of the Lakeshore (Oshawa) East Rail expansion. A portion of the site will be used as a Park and Ride location to allow commuters an alternative place to park in order to get to the extremely packed Bloor Street station. The scope of work is under review and likely to change. The building frontage on Front Street consists of a two-storey clay brick and wooden beam heritage structure which will be preserved. TIMELINE: An Environmental Assessment (EA) and predesign study have been completed internally by the owner. Site acquisition is complete. The station design concepts were created with the 2011 Environmental Assessment for the project. Metrolinx continues to advance opportunities to deliver all four new GO stations along the Bowmanville Extension through the Province of Ontario Transit Oriented Communities (TOC) Program. Specialized crews will mobilize in June 2024 to begin the preservation and structural rehabilitation of the Part 1 heritage component. Demolition is anticipated fall/winter, 2024, while continuing preservation activities and heritage elements throughout the structure. Metrolinx is currently in active discussions with local third parties, to deliver the four GO stations along the future Bowmanville Extension. *The project value is between $750 million to $1.2 billion
