Construction of a materials management facility transfer station. The building will provide a community collection operations and moving material to final waste disposal/processing locations. The building will house bins for the consolidation of waste from multiple collection vehicles into larger, higher volume transfer vehicles for more economical shipment to disposal/processing sites or end markets. TIMELINE: The owner has secured land use approvals from county and local governments for official plan and rezoning for this site and the related Organics Processing Facility as part of the Environmental Resource Recovery Centre (ERRC) through an appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal. The owner issued a Material Transfer Facility Design Build tender for the temporary transfer facility which will be located at the Oro Landfill. This is going to be utilized as a transfer facility until the ERRC is constructed. Pre-design is on hold; the scope of work is under review due to Blue box transition. The environmental management plan and wildlife management plan are currently in draft and will be updated to reflect the confirmed site layout, once approved. The zoning approval for the site is secured, and the owner will seek site plan approval from the Municipality of Springwater and Ministry of the Environment approvals in 2025. Further schedules are undetermined pending county council decision on site specifics is received and a detailed site design is completed. Tender and construction timing is unknown.
