Site work, paving and new construction of an educational facility in Los Angeles, California. Design plans call for the construction of a educational facility.

As of January 23, 2024, this project remains on hold pending funding decisions. An architect has been selected, but the stage of design is unknown. A timeline for bidding and construction has yet to be announced. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: UCLA requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the purpose of selecting an Executive Architect for the proposed RRUMC Utility Building (UCLA Project #948282.01) to serve the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. The proposed project would involve the design and construction of a new utility building to include new above-ground emergency generators and a bulk medical gas facility to serve the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. The scope of work would include the construction of a new utility building to serve the RRUMC with emergency power, medical gas and potentially other utilities such as steam. The building will need to be built while maintaining continuous hospital operations. Initial planning would need to evaluate multiple options for siting of the new facility as well as utility services to be included. These could include sites around Medical Plaza, the Facilities Management Building or other nearby options. Construction cost has not yet been determined, but is currently anticipated to be in the range of approximately $30-35M. Responses to this RFQ should demonstrate familiarity and experience in the design of hospital functions and utility buildings to meet Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) requirements for OSHPD 1 (Acute Care). Final selection and appointment of the Executive Architect for the proposed project is contingent upon project approval. The project is subject to review and approval by the UC Board of Regents or their delegated authority and in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). This RFQ is for full design services for the RRUMC Utility Building; however, the University reserves the right to defer negotiations concerning services other than pre-design studies until the completion of the pre-design phase. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Candidate Firm may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy.
