Renovation of a fire / police facility in Brooklyn, New York. Design plans call for the renovation of a fire station.
The project calls for reconstruction of an NYPD firing range consisting of four shooting bays on each side of a common control room. Noise reduction is a key issue. The major design feature will be to reduce noise in the space according to OSHA guidelines to obtain a reverberation time of less than 1:25 sec. The site investigation includes bullet traps, fire line booths, target retrieval systems, the tower range observation, communication and monitoring systems, and HVAC systems.
