Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Working plans call for the construction of a 30,000-square-foot educational facility.
This project provides build out of a 30,000 square foot school operated under the mandate of the Circuit Court. It would be an alternative learning source for youths who have been expelled from school and typically are on the streets during the day. Under this program, youths who are expelled and choose not to attend the school would be sentenced to juvenile hall. This project has been tried successfully in other parts of the country. The project is included in the county's 2022-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of January 24, 2023, further details regarding firm construction timeline have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly.
