Site work and new construction of a clubhouse / community center in Bracebridge, Ontario. Completed plans call for the construction of a 126,708-square-foot, two-story above grade clubhouse / community center; and for site work for a clubhouse / community center.
Proposed two-storey, 126,708 sq ft building with a Single Ice Pad with spectator viewing stands, Twin Gymnasium, Concession area, and Community Library. The overall facility will now be named the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre and the arena will be named the Muskoka Lumber Arena. * - The town is awarding the contract tender for construction of the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre to Aquicon Construction at an upset limit of a maximum price of $59 million and increasing the capital budget for the project to $75 million. The preliminary project budget was just shy of $60 million. - Aquicon, the lowest of the tenders, came in at more than $66.8 million, exceeding the anticipated construction tender of $44.6 million by about $22.2 million, which staff felt would place undue financial pressure on the town without mitigating action. - The difference between the project budget and the estimate of the project budget presented to council through the long-term capital plan in October is about $15.6 million.
