The Nature and Environmental Education facility was part of the initial Master Plan for the Nature Park site. The intent is to utilize this facility as a headquarters for the operation of the park and to provide on-site staff to program and oversee the park. Additionally, it would be a place where environmental and nature exhibits can be seen as part of the Town's effort to educate and support environmental initiatives such as conservation and good stewardship. It is envisioned that a large portion of the potential programming for this facility would be achieved through Town initiatives and by developing collaborative relationships with area schools and universities. As of November 9, 2023, this project is in the conceptual phase. The owner has plans to issue a request for an architect late 2023/early 2024. This project is included in the Town of Apex's 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and funding is allotted for FY 23-24 and FY 25-26. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
