New Fire/Rescue - Company 12 (Massaponax Area) Construction of a new fire station in the area of Massaponax Church Road and Rt. 1. With the threshold of2,500 total calls per station identified as a benchmark in the Countys Comprehensive Plan, the stations thatsurround the proposed Station 12 are already at or approaching maximum call volume. As the call volumeincreases, the reliability of units from those stations to respond decreases, while they are committed to othercalls for service throughout the County. The addition of a new Co. 12 station would provide relief to thesurrounding districts, provide some stability and reliability measures for the area as future developments arebuilt, and would provide a more rapid response of resources to multi-company incidents. 15,000 square feet isestimated for planning purposes. The operational costs shown below beginning in FY 2022 assumes a fullcomplement of 15 Firefighter/Medics, 2 Lieutenants, and 1 Captain. Project is included Spotsylvania County Fiscal Year 2025-2029. As of June 4, 2024, project is funded for planning and design in FY2023 and construction in FY2025-2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
