New construction of a fitness / recreation center in Tofino, British Columbia. Design plans call for the construction of a 25,500-square-foot, two-story above grade fitness / recreation center.
Construction of an approximately 1,190 m2 (footprint) indoor recreation facility consisting of a gymnasium and bleachers, washrooms/change rooms, storage, fitness rooms, small office, multi-purpose room (cultural), entrance (lobby) and potentially an indoor walking track. The gymnasium will be able to accommodate 176 spectators on the bleachers. The second level would have multi-functional rooms for yoga, fitness, dance classes, or a fitness facility. The third/outdoor space between the new and the existing building can be grouped and used as one large space along with the multi-functional foyer and the gymnasium. TIMELINE: Design is ongoing. The project is pending funding. Schedules for tenders and construction are undefined at this time and will be determined once funding is in place. Further update may be available in early, 2026. *The budget includes design, project management (tender period services and contract administration), surveys, testing and construction.
