Site work and new construction of a playground / park / athletic field in Lincoln, Nebraska. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a playground / park / athletic field.
The adopted Downtown Master Plan and the South Haymarket Neighborhood Plan include the development of an urban park in the southwestern portion of the Haymarket to serve the increased residential population of the area and provide open space for passive use and scheduled events. Acquisition of the land has been completed and a capital campaign is envisioned to provide the funding need for park planning, design, construction and an endowment for future repair/replacement/renewal needs. Other Financing may include grants and private donations compiled through a capital campaign by the Lincoln Parks Foundation. The project is included city's FY 2020-2026 Capital Improvement Plan. As of May 19, 2023, information regarding a design firm and the general contractor selection timeline has not been disclosed. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to 2024. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
