Project Budget: $25,000,000 Project Square Footage: 91,000 Project Duration: 15 Months Construction The project involves the complete renovation of Building 3606 and 3606A which are located at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, Virginia Beach, VA. The barracks building is a five-story structure that is divided into three segments by expansion joints. Building 3606 is approximately 91,000 SF in area and currently houses 240 double occupancy units for a total of 480 beds. Two units (4 beds) share a common bathroom. The basic renovation of Building 3606 includes the conversion from a 2+2 layout to a 2+0 to meet current facility criteria. This includes the demolition of the existing bathrooms sharing two units and replacing them with individual bathrooms to serve each unit. All rooms will receive new finishes that are commensurate for BEQ applications. 238 units will remain double occupancy while 2 units will be single occupancy ABA compliant, for a total count of 478 beds. Existing elevators will be replaced with 1 stretcher-capable ABA compliant elevator and one smaller passenger elevator within the existing shaft. All major building systems, such as plumbing, HVAC and fire protection will be replaced. Stairwells including the railings will be refurbished and painted in their entirety and clear graphics will be provided related to orientation and egress requirements. All exterior walls will remain except for the door and window infill of each dwelling unit which will be demolished and replaced with a more energy efficient infill that consists of one door and one operable window designed to meet current energy and ATFP requirements. The facility shall be designed and constructed per UFC 1-200-02, high performance and sustainable buildings for new construction and major renovation projects.
