Saving Project...

Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Design plans call for the construction of a 90,000-square-foot, one-story above grade clubhouse / community center; and fitness / recreation center.

Construction of a new recreation facility that will include three gymnasiums, a 200 metre walking track, fitness areas, multi-purpose rooms, associated change rooms and administrative spaces along with an outdoor spray pad. TIMELINE: Schematic design of the recreation centre and child care centre & Class 4 cost estimate was completed late 2023. Project forecast to be over-budget by approximately $23 million, based on a recently-received Class 4 estimate (range -30 percent to +60 percent) from the City’s project consultant. The current approved budget for the recreation centre component is $71 million. The city is reviewing options for increased budget, seek further government funding or reduce the scope. An administrative report with recommendations will be presented to the Standing Policy Committee on Community Services May 8, 2024. Updates may be available fall 2024. *Owner has estimated a total cost of $89,036,000 for Phase 1. *The Government of Canada is investing more than $31.6 million in this project through the Community, Culture, and Recreation Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. In addition, the Government of Manitoba is funding over $31.1 million, and the City of Winnipeg is contributing more than $16.2 million towards eligible costs for the project.
