Construction of improvements to TTC surface routes in the East Bayfront District, south of Eastern Transit Network. The scope includes upgrades to transit facilities and services in the following areas; Queens Quay connection east to Cherry st; Cherry connection north to Distillery Loop and south to the Ship Channel; Commissioners connection east to Leslie Street and Barns; Broadview connection south to Commissioners, Reconfiguration of GO and TTC facilities at Long Branch Loop to make a more convenient connection between streetcar, bus and train services; Whether a through service from Mississauga should operate into Toronto either as a western extension of the streetcar line or as a bus link, possibly through-routed north to Kipling Station and the Etobicoke City Centre at the Six Points. How much development and associated transit demand will occur at the Lakeview site, and where this demand will originate; Loop through Exhibition Place, this section of the route would link existing track at Dufferin Loop (the CNE Western Entrance Loop) to the main Exhibition Loop adjacent to the GO station. TIMELINE: The Environmental Assessment is completed, a planning study and phasing plan and both the near-term and longer-term network completed to 30 percent design. The project was earlier submitted to the Waterfront Design Review Panel (WDRP) in June, 2021 to have any issues with the early design identified by the panel. The owner expects the design will be presented to City Council in March or April 2023. Design and costing work are ongoing and will be presented to Council late spring/early summer, 2023. Further funding allocation for tender and construction is expected in 2024. A timeline for construction currently remains undetermined, and depends on the results of the funding, as well as construction of the Ontario Line, Gardiner Expressway realignment in the area, and other nearby projects. Total project value with the Contracting method is undetermined.
