Renovation of a mixed-use development in Toronto, Ontario. Design plans call for the renovation of a office development; and retail development.
Alterations for the lower-level retail development of the St Lawrence Market South Building, including the internal lower-level retail areas, new retail areas under the exterior elevated pedestrian walkway on Market Street, and temporary retail uses for the area under the elevated pedestrian walkway on Jarvis Street. The entire lower-level retail area should be a destination in its own right that attracts people to visit the market, shop, dine, linger, and return in the future. A key to the success of this vision is to take advantage of the recent Market Street revitalization (between The Esplanade and Front Street). The areas under the elevated walkways will be designed to accommodate new retail areas that engage both the interior and exterior of the market. TIMELINE: Concept designs have been presented to the city for review.; public consultation process is underway. Pending comments, any further refinements to the concepts will be incorporated, and the plan will progress to final design, council and tender, before moving onto phasing and construction. Tender and construction schedules are undetermined pending capital funding allocation. Further update early spring 2025.
