As of November 9, 2022, construction has commenced. A closed solicitation is below, for reference: The 2016 Durham County Bond Referendum includes funds for the replacement of Northern High School. The total project budget is $51,250,000. The current campus is located at 117 Tom Wilkinson Road in Durham, North Carolina. The project will be constructed on the same property as the current campus. The work will be phased to allow ongoing operation of the existing school while the new building is constructed. Once the new building is occupied, the existing structure will be removed and remaining site amenities completed. We anticipate the new building will be planned for an opening capacity of 1,600 students (core 1,800). Programming will be done to inventory existing space use and evaluate any program changes for the new facility. The Design Consultant's work includes traditional design and construction administrative services, as well as assistance with the selection and layout of furniture and equipment. Initial phases of design will include pre-design services such as planning and programmatic inventory of the existing facility. The consultant's scope of services will include (but is not limited to) the following: Planning and program assistance 1.Site evaluation for phasing strategies 2.Coordination / approvals with all regulatory agencies 3.Cost Estimating 4.Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents 5.Bidding / Negotiation 6.Construction Administration 7.Close out / Occupancy 8.Warranty The selected Design Consultant's project team will provide the turnkey professional services necessary for the project's completion. The core disciplines will include architecture, civil, landscaping, structural, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical engineering. The project team will also include consultants for acoustical, theater, food service, and any other specialty deemed programmatically necessary.The Design Consultant is expected to work with the Owner's third party estimator and Commissioning Agent during design and construction phases of the work.
