Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Completed plans call for the construction of a 55,435-square-foot, two-story above grade educational facility.
The project consists of a new two storey 5,150 m² (55,435 ft²) K-5 Elementary School and independently operated Daycare on a clean site in a new residential development in northeast Winnipeg, Manitoba. The new building construction will include concrete grade beams on concrete piles, a combination of both hollow core and structural concrete slab construction for the floor composition, and a steel framed roof system. Building superstructure consists of steel frame, with either infill concrete block or steel stud walls. The lower exterior finish of the new school is to be primarily composed of brick masonry veneer and tyndall stone, while the upper exterior finish will be a combination of prefinished metal wall panels and brick veneer. The site will include a new asphalt approach, bus loop and parking areas c/w concrete sidewalk and curbing. The daycare will have a separate drop off and entry. Hardscaping and softscaping will also form part of the site work to accommodate active play areas and a soccer field to the south of the new school. The project is targeting LEED Silver Certification.
