Saving Project...

Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Alexandria, Virginia. Working plans call for the construction of a multi-residential development; office development; and clubhouse / community center.

The project will redevelop the Original Mount Vernon High School and George Washington rec center sites (approximately 42 acres) to create shared multi-generational, vibrant community spaces with public and private, residential, educational, recreational and non-profit uses, as well as pedestrian connections to the nearby future bus rapid transit station. As of June 14, 2023, this project is in the planning stage and there are two community meetings scheduled in June to receive public feedback on the proposed project. The project is part of the Fairfax County Capital Improvement Plan for fiscal year 2021-2025. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to begin before the spring of 2024, at the latest, due to permitting.
