Site work and new construction of an elderly care / assisted living facility in Timmins, Ontario. Completed plans call for the construction of a 152,550-square-foot, three-story above grade, 192-bed elderly care / assisted living facility; and for site work for a elderly care / assisted living facility.

Golden Manor Home for the Aged is an existing 177-bed Long-Term Care (LTC) Facility, owned and operated by the City located at 481 Melrose Boulevard in Timmins, Ontario. The Golden Manor has been identified as having all of its beds below the "A" Standard of structural compliance, qualifying it for capital redevelopment funding from the Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC). Therefore, the City is planning a hybrid capital project which includes construction of new facility built on a site next to the existing Golden Manor to house the current 177-beds and an additional 15 new beds. The new 192-bed facility and redevelopment of the Golden Manor property will be completed in phases with the existing Golden Manor remaining operational throughout construction. After resident transition, the second phase of the project will require demolishment and capping of the Special Care Wing in the existing facility. Existing facilities need to remain operational at all times throughout the duration of construction of the new facility. Any service interruptions will require coordination and sufficient advance notice to The City and affected tenants. TIMELINE: Sub trades are being secured through a prequalified process which has closed; awarded trades will currently not be released for publication. The Invited tender to the eventual prequalified firms is expected to be issued June 21, 2023. Construction will begin late August 2023 with mobilization on-site; completion is currently targeted June 2026. *Contract amount has not been released for publication; project has however been estimated at approx. 96 million.
