The Town is in the process of conducting a facility study to analyze and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the current facilities located at the Town Brixton Street site and determine the suitability of rehabilitating the existing facilities or designing new facilities. Included in this study is the indoor shooting range used by the Police Department. There are numerous facility deficiencies for the police department, including a small shooting range located in the basement of the building with poor air circulation, no classroom space for instruction related to the shooting range, limited restroom access, and ADA accessibility issues. The recommendations from the facility study will drive the process for improving the shooting range. This appropriation will fund construction costs. As of February 14, 2023, this project is included in the Town of West Hartford's FY 2023-2034 Adopted Capital Improvement Program. Architect information and a firm timeline for construction has not been determined. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
