New construction of a mixed-use development in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a clubhouse / community center; municipal facility; library; and retail development.
Development of the Civic Precinct Project, located on City-owned land at the southwest corner of Yonge Street and Major Mackenzie Drive. The boundaries of the Civic Precinct include: Major Mackenzie Drive to the north, Church Street to the east, Hopkins Street to the south, and Arnold Crescent to the west. The scope includes construction of a new civic centre and community amenities, such as an all-season community space with new municipal offices, an expanded central library and public gathering areas for the community, a reflecting pool/skating rink, amphitheater, pedestrian promenade and pedestrian plazas. TIMELINE: A feasibility study was completed by the consultant in 2018 and submitted to the owner for approval early 2019. Project has been placed on hold. The future use of the lands south of the proposed Village Local Centre boundary will be looked at in more detail through a future Official Plan Amendment.
