Saving Project...

Renovation of a water / sewer project in Dover, New Hampshire. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.

This project will update the Varney Brook pump station, the city's third largest pump station. The plant had to be shut down and flow had to be bypassed due to equipment failure. The station handles all flows from the southern end of the city and pumps directly to the Waste Water Treatment Plant. Any questions or inquiries must be submitted in writing, and, in order to be considered, must be received by the Purchasing Agent (a.legere@dover.nh.gov) no later than seven (7) calendar days before the Request for Proposals due date and time. Any changes to the Request for Proposals will be provided to all Proposers of record. The Varney Brook Pump Station was originally constructed in 1979. There are three constant speed 100 HP vertical centrifugal pumps manufactured by Flowserve (Model 6MFC15). Each pump is rated for 1,700-gallons per minute at 115-feet of head. Based on pump testing performed in January 2013, Pump 1 conveys 1,400-gallons per minute at 122-feet of head, and Pump 3 conveys 1,580-gallons per minute at 127.5-feet of head. Pump 2 was unavailable for testing. The selected firm shall verify these flow and head conditions. The existing station has reached the end of its anticipated lifespan and is due for upgrades for increased reliability and energy efficiency. This project consists of design engineering services to upgrade the pump station, including three new variable speed pumps and appurtenances, and evaluations and potentially design of mechanical influent screening and grit removal. Improvements to the building include upgrades to the electrical, instrumentation, and HVAC systems. NHDES and CWSRF Provisions and Wages apply to this contract The Varney Brook Pump Station Upgrade scope of work shall include, but not be limited to, the following: Preliminary Design consisting of a comprehensive building system evaluation, influent screening system evaluation, grit removal evaluation, and build-out evaluation for the Varney Brook sewer shed to confirm design flows; Preliminary Design documents shall consist of a Preliminary Design Report, including final design criteria, preliminary drawings and outline specifications for the process equipment; Prepare 90% completion Plans, Contract Documents, and cost estimates; and Prepare 100% final bidding Plans, Contract Documents, and cost estimates. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time. The City of Dover reserves the right to waive any formality, informality, information and/or errors in the proposals submitted and the right to reject any or all proposals at its discretion and to accept the proposal which will be in the best interest of the City; or to purchase on the open market if it is considered in the best interest of the City to do so.
