Remodeling of a municipal facility in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Design plans call for the remodel of a municipal facility.
The County/City Building is fifty-seven years old, completed in 1959. Although the building has held up well through the years, we must now make significant renovations in order to maintain the aging infrastructure. This project incorporates several smaller capital projects into one. With the potential of a new Government Facility Building project it is important to ensure that the County/City Building will be a part of our future campus. This investment, besides improving the structural components and energy efficiency of the building, also ensures maintenance of our historical infrastructure. This project is essentially the total remodel of the County/City Building, including an interior demolition and build out once the building's next and best use is determined. The project plan below builds from smaller exterior repairs that are necessary to the larger remodeling in later years once other government facility decisions have been made. This incremental approach allows the County to plan for funding into the future without neglecting the necessary repairs that should be made now while other building decisions are being made. Venture Architects completed an analysis of the County/City Building with the assistance of an engineering and construction firm and developed cost estimates for remodeling, which are attached to the project as reference. As of February 23, 2022, this project is currently listed as delayed in the FY 2022-2027 CIP . The 2021 capital budget includes the continuation of a Courthouse remodel project and taking the concept for the Government Facility project to the next stage. In 2017, the County hired an Owner’s Representative to assist the County in moving through the next stages and planning. In 2018, the County contracted with an architectural firm to further develop the concept for the government facility and the courthouse remodel. The County adopted a reimbursement resolution in 2018 to allow the County to finance this project with debt proceeds at a later date if necessary. In 2020, the County adopted a resolution to evaluate and explore a greenspace option for the future government facility. The project has not begun programming, as the County has yet to dettermin a direction for the project. A firm timeline has not been established and the construction scheduled is to be determined.* *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
