Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a detention facility in Canton, Georgia. Completed plans call for the addition of a detention facility; for the demolition of a detention facility; for the renovation of a detention facility; and for site work for a detention facility.
The construction of a six (6) level precast and masonry housing tower building, with a total gross square footage of 111,190. The building will have an estimated inmate capacity of 620. Cells are included on all four (4) sides of the building at five (5) levels. There are control rooms in the middle for observation and controlling the inmate population. An enclosed masonry walkway extends from an existing housing building to connect to the new housing tower. The existing laundry, kitchen, staff dining, lobby, inmate property storage, and conference room J219 will receive interior renovations. The “Old Jail” will renovate into a new video visitation area that includes a new group restroom extension, and the new staff exit includes the addition of an exterior steel stairway. Upgrades to the existing facilities security/alarm system are also included. Site Improvements include the site preparation for the new tower and connecting corridor, new asphalt pavement, the relocation and extension of the impound yard, new security fencing, and new underground site utilities. The site is approximately 5.57 acres of developed area. *The following has been preserved for historical reference: Cherokee County (County), is seeking qualifications and proposals for Construction Manager-at Risk Services to provide full Pre-Construction and Construction services for the adaptive reuse and additions to the existing Adult Detention Center at 498 Chattin Drive, Canton, GA, which will be designed to serve the County's needs for the foreseeable future. Bid bonds for the proposed pre-construction fees are not required. This is step II in the subject selection process as defined in the RFQ/P 2018-021, . This is an invitation only Request for Proposals, only those prequalified by the selection committee will be evaluated.
