Saving Project...

Site work and new construction of a municipal facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Design plans call for the construction of a municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.

The purpose of the project is to treat gas from the Waste Management Metro Landfill and deliver it to the District's landfill gas (LFG) pipeline for use at Jones Island WRF. The project will construct a new LFG treatment and conveyance facilities at Waste Management Metro Landfill. LFG is a source of energy for producing electricity for plant purposes and heat to produce Milorganite at JIWRF. LFG is a renewable fuel, and its use at Jones Island in place of natural gas results in operational cost savings and an overall reduction in greenhouse gases. The increase in total project cost is due to refined cost estimates. The project is expected to have a positive operating budget impact due to lower costs than natural gas. Design Jul-16 Apr-26 Construction Sep-26 Dec-27 Post-Constr. Jan-20 Oct-28 The project is included in the 2024 Capital Improvement Project. As June 11, 2024, a design firm has been selected. Construction is expected to begin in 2026 and be complete in 2027. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly.
