Infrastructure Ontario and Lakeridge Health have issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to design, build and finance the Bowmanville Hospital Redevelopment project. The expansion to the Bowmanville Hospital will be almost double the size of the current hospital, enabling increased health care capacity in Durham Region. It will expand critical care services and introduce modern, patient-centred facilities including private rooms, ambulatory care clinics and a haemodialysis centre. The RFQ is the first step in the process to select a team to deliver the project. Submissions will be reviewed to shortlist teams with the required design and construction experience applicable to this project, as well as the financial capacity to deliver a project of this size and complexity. Shortlisted teams will then be invited to respond to a request for proposals (RFP), which is expected to be released in early 2025. Interested companies must register on merx.com to download the RFQ. The Lakeridge Health - Bowmanville Redevelopment Project is to be delivered under the P3 Design, Build, Finance (DBF) model. The project includes the redevelopment of the Lakeridge Bowmanville Hospital site located in Bowmanville, Ontario. The scope of work comprises of the construction of a new main facility with rooftop helipad, parking structure, connecting link to the existing East Wing, and related site development activities. Once the new facility is constructed and operational, demolition of an existing building (North Wing) and renovation will occur in the existing structure to support outpatient clinical services. For the duration of the Project, Lakeridge Health Bowmanville Hospital will continue operating as a full-service community hospital. The project includes the redevelopment of the Lakeridge Bowmanville Hospital site located in Bowmanville, Ontario. The construction site is currently located on an existing surface parking lot within the overall property bounded to the west by Liberty Street, Queen Street to the north and Prince Street to the south. The scope of work includes the construction of a new main ~380,000 SF facility with a rooftop helipad, parking structure, connecting link to the existing East Wing, and related site development activities.
