RFPQ CAO22-99, Request for Prequalification for a Constructor and General Contractor of the Junction East Project. The Junction East is a new signature building to house, the Greater Sudbury Public Library (GSPL) Main Branch, the Art Gallery of Sudbury (AGS), and the Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association (SMFAA). The intent of the RFPQ is to prequalify general contractors to develop a list of firms (Prequalified Bidders List) who will be eligible to participate in the following Tender for the Construction of the Junction East (Future Bid Solicitation). The Junction East is an approximately 104,000 sq ft building shared between three (3) occupants. The Greater Sudbury Public Library (~60,000 sq ft), Art Gallery of Sudbury (~28,000 sq ft), and Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association (~2,000 sq ft) will be located within the new construction building, along with required support spaces. Junction East will be approx. 104,000 sq ft in Greater Sudbury's historic downtown, expected to open in 2024. It will include: - New Central Library - The Art Gallery of Sudbury - Potential future partners Sudbury Theatre Centre and Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association. These institutions will share space in one building but continue to have distinct identities with separate missions, governance, staffing structures and sources of operating revenues. Junction East will be located on Shaughnessy Street in Downtown Sudbury (the parking lot beside the Sudbury Theatre Centre). The building construction costs will be in the range of $80 to $100 Million CAD. TIMELINE: As of June 28, 2022, four (4) firms have prequalified. Invited tender is expected to be released Q4 2022 or Q1 2023. Tender has been cancelled. If/when the project will be re-tendered is undetermined at this time.
