This project involves refurbishing the Center Islands on US 287 from Midway Boulevard to Miramonte Boulevard. Phase 1 of the project would be Nickel Street Island, Atlas Islands and Midway Boulevard to 10th Avenue. Phase 2 would consist of 10th Avenue to Miramonte Boulevard. Included in this project are; installation of new electrical lines, new irrigation, new trees, new shrubbery, new aggregate mulch, new amended soils and installation of adjustable lighting. This project will be designed using Colorado drought tolerant native trees and shrubbery. Colorado native shrubs are naturally adapted to their specific Colorado climate and reduced external inputs such as watering, fertilizing, and pruning. All plant materials will be of a salt tolerant variety to help with winter time sanding operation. As of March 02, 2022, this project is currently in the FY 2022-2026 CIP . Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction Fy 2026. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
