Renovation of a water / sewer project in Arlington, Texas. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
As of November 23, 2020, this project is under construction and is expected to be completed in a year. A construction manager has been selected. The project will address the chemical storage and feed facilities as well as the chemical injection points and residual sampling related work at the John F. Kubala Water Treatment Plant (JKWTP). At the JKWTP, Alum is used as the primary coagulant and coagulant aid polymer (CAP) is added to the process for improving floc formation. The alum and polymer solutions are pumped to the rapid mix basin. Ozone is used in both the raw water and settled water. The settled water ozone application provides primary disinfection. Chlorine is added in the filter gallery to the water leaving the filter complex for additional disinfection and to establish the secondary disinfectant for the distribution system. Caustic is added post-filtration to adjust the pH of the water prior to distribution. Ammonia is fed between the filters and the clearwells into the 84-inch filtered effluent line to form chloramines as the residual disinfectant. Fluoride is also added to enhance dental health. Additional caustic is stored for the chlorine scrubber system.
