New construction of a medical facility in Dundas, Ontario. Completed plans call for the construction of a 28,848-square-foot, two-story above grade, 10-bed medical facility.
St Joseph's Villa's (the Villa) vision for the proposed ten (10) bed hospice represents a design focused on how to sustain the highest quality of life for its residents, their families, and those that support them. The 26,000 square foot facility is organized into two wings: one single-storey six (6) bed wing; and a two-storey with provisions for an additional (4) beds on the ground floor. The building is designed with a high efficiency building envelope with wood frame construction, incorporating elements of heavy timber and a slab on grade foundation with precast concrete above the basement mechanical/services room. The mechanical system on the ground floor is designed to provide constant volume with terminal reheat, and the second floor will feature variable volume with terminal VAV at each zone. A sprinkler system will be required throughout the building. All primary interior and exterior lighting will be highly efficient LED luminaires. *Award amount was not released for publication.
