Demolition, site work and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Lynwood, California. Design plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel.
Plans call for the replacement of an existing bridge with a newer bridge that is more sustainable. The proposed plans for the new bridge will include a roundabout for highway acess from Seventh Street and Shoreline Drive. Additionally, plans call for the streets to be realigned, which will add approximately four acres of space to Cesar Chavez Park. As of February 2024, the project is in design and the city is seeking permitting and regulatory approvals. Design is expected to be completed in early 2025, with bidding to follow if funding is secured. A general contractor will be selected through competitive bidding unless otherwise determined by the city; however, a timeline for bid/ construction has not been determined.
