Saving Project...

Renovation of a recreation facility in Scarborough, Ontario. Design plans call for the renovation of a 710-acre recreation facility.

Energy Efficiency upgrades to reduce water consumption, upgrade capital energy-related equipment, improve building operations and maintenance, save costs and upgrade physical infrastructure of the facilities to coincide with the Toronto Zoo Environmental and natural resources conservation platform. At about 287 hectares (710 acres) the Toronto Zoo is one of the largest Zoos in the world. The Toronto Zoo is divided into geographic zones of the world each representing the natural habitat and species of the world region. TIMELINE: The IEPC Consultant is has completed an Energy Retrofit Study, Implementation of Energy Retrofit projects, and an Energy Conservation Measures Report. At the December 2021 Board Meeting the Zoo approved the Detailed Concept Design presented by Ecosystem Energy Service Inc. with modified scope and costs. The owner has set aside capital funding in the 2022 plan to implement energy retrofit program to support the TransformTO net zero 2040 plan and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and achieve operating cost savings. The RFP will be awarded fall/winter, 2022, contract negotiations are underway. Projects will be identified pending approval of the report and based on funding allocation.
