Renovation of a water / sewer project in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
Ypsilanti does not have a generator and needs one in the event of a power outage in order to help maintain pressures. The pumps, motors and electrical system are original to the facility and are past their useful service life. The electrical system requires substantial maintenance to keep it in service. Replacement of the motors and electrical system will improve the reliability of the station. In addition, the station does not have a sewer discharge, which is required in order to enable any underground construction due to dewatering discharges. Replace pumps, motors, drive, switchgear with new. Install a new discharge sewer, backup generator and bypass for the station. As of April 24, 2023, this project is included in the Great Lakes Water Authority's FY 2023-2027 CIP. A design firm has been selected for the project. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to beyond the current fiscal year plan. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
