Renovation and addition to an educational facility in Alexandria, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility; and for the addition of a educational facility.

This work shall include 4 additions, one being a 2-story addition, of various sizes located around the existing school building. Work involves renovation and renewal of the existing school building, including new HVAC systems, plumbing systems, electrical systems, new doors and windows, finishes, sprinkler system, roofing and site work as indicated on the bid drawings. The work shall be completed in phases as indicated on the Construction Phasing Drawings, in order to allow the Owner partial and continuing occupancy of the existing building during construction. Normal operations shall be maintained during the course of the school year. The FCPS School year calendar is attached for Contractor's reference (See calendar at the end of the Section). To protect students and staff health and enhance the learning environment of school children, the new school building has been designed with CHPS (Collaborative for High Performance Schools) criteria in mind and must achieve the CHPS Designed status. The Contractor must be familiar with VA-CHPS criteria and responsibilities that accompany a CHPS project. As of August 3 2021, this project is under construction. Work is anticipated to be finished by Fall 2022.
