New construction of a mixed-use development in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Design plans call for the construction of a transportation facility.
Construction of a subway/transit station at the Richmond Hill Centre as part of the Yonge Subway Extension. The scope will include construction of a bus terminal, and a train storage and maintenance facility. TIMELINE: An Environment Assessment has been completed. The architect is undertaking completion of preliminary design. The pre-design of Tunnels, Infrastructure of the YNSE is underway. The alignment is under review, and this may be an above ground line. Three options are being reviewed as part of the Business Case. As of early March 2023, Metrolinx announced the started construction on the early works at the TTC's Finch Subway Station, before major construction on the YNSE can begin. The upgrades at Finch Station move the Yonge North Subway Extension closer to the construction stage and keep the project running smoothly. Mid-December 2023 Metrolinx announced the release of a Request For Qualifications to complete early works at the TTC's Finch Subway Station, before major construction on the YNSE can begin. The awarded design build consortia will provide detailed design and working drawings and manage construction. Tender and construction timing will be finalized in 2025 pending funding allocation.
