Renovation of a mixed-use development in Edenton, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a museum.

As of April 12, 2021, information regarding award and award date have not been disclosed. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Project consists of the renovation and repair of the Benbury-Frinks House in Edenton, NC. The Benbury-Frinks House is listed as a contributing property in the Edenton National Register Historic District. Interior living space is equal to approximately 1,600 SF. In addition, repairs will be made to concrete masonry structure at the rear of the property and to the existing carport. Exterior Repair & Renovation: • Painting of the house including preparation and repairs to the siding, trim and porch columns. • Repairs and partial reglazing of windows. • Repairs and partial replacement of missing or damaged gutters. and downspouts including assessment of existing storm drainage system. • Evaluation of the existing historic exterior light fixtures to determine electrical code compliance. • Repairs to brick foundation and brick veneer. • Repairs to concrete masonry structure at the rear of the property. • Repairs to the existing exterior carport including a review of the structural integrity of the carport and its connection to the main house. Interior Repair & Renovation: • Drywall removal and replacement repairs in areas of the home that have been damaged by mold or water infiltration. • Replacement of batt insulation where required. • Evaluation of the historic interior light fixtures to determine code compliance. • Replacement of the existing electrical service panel and wiring. • Repairs and refinishing of stairway. • Painting of walls and trim. • Renovation of the toilet rooms including new plumbing fixtures, finishes and accessories. • Repairs to doors and flooring. • Installation of a new fire alarm and security system. In order to be considered for selection for this project, Design Teams must clearly demonstrate in their Letter of Interest that they have both a sufficient work force to complete the project and relevant experience in historic home repairs and renovations. All work on the project must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Design Teams must be familiar with these standards and guidelines for rehabilitation as a treatment for historic properties.
