Site work for a water / sewer project in Fort Edward, New York. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
https://www.bizjournals.com/albany/news/2021/03/22/contractors-competing-for-moreau-sewer-project.html a day ago Six Albany region contractors are competing to install five miles of sewer lines along Route 9 and Bluebird Road in Moreau, a job that is expected to encourage investors to redevelop the commercial area around Exit 17 of the Interstate 87 Northway. New Castle Paving of Troy submitted the lowest bid at $11.6 million, followed by Jersen Construction Group of Waterford, which bid just under $12.1 million. Carver Construction of Altamont filed the third-lowest bid at just under $12.5 million. The Cutting Edge Group of Queensbury, Kubricky Construction of Wilton and Bellamy Construction of Schenectady each bid between $13 million and $13.35 million for the job. "We expect to have pipe in the ground by spring," said Moreau town supervisor Todd Kusnierz. "We know we have development coming in that will need sewer." The town has been talking about sewer expansion for years. Voters approved a $16 million expansion in August 2018. Now engineers and the town board will review bids and could select a contractor by the end of the month. The cost of the project was reduced after engineers redesigned the expansion to include low pressure sections, trimming cost estimates by about $1.2 million. At least 12 contractors requested information about the job and six ended up submitting proposals before last week's deadline. One of the primary reasons for the expansion was the town's desire to encourage commercial investments to attract jobs and tax revenue along the busier sections of Route 9. Investors and developers spent $14 million over the past four years purchasing 85 acres along Route 9 in anticipation of the sewer extension. Warehouses, a car wash, offices and health care practices all have been considered in the area. And several projects have been completed. Hudson Headwaters Health Network constructed an $11 million, 24,000-square-foot center and Stewart's Shops built a new store at the corner of Route 9 and Spier Falls Road. Kusnierz expects the majority of the sewer expansion will be finished by the end of 2022. _______________________________________________________________________________ TOWN OF MOREAU SEWER DISTRICT NUMBER 1 EXTENSION 5 includes the installation of approximately 25,600 LF of forcemain sewer, 51,500 LF of low pressure sewer main and services, 200 low pressure grinder pumps, and a central lift station. All qualified bidders, upon return of full Contract Documents, will be refunded the full deposit. All non-bidders, upon return of full Contract Documents, will be refunded one-half of the deposit. All documents, returned for refund, must be received complete, in good condition and within thirty (30) days of the Bid Opening. The engineer's opinion of construction cost for this project is approximately $9,900,000. ALL RFI'S MUST BE RECEIVED A MINIMUM OF 10-DAYS PRIOR TO BID.
