Renovation of a medical facility in New Westminster, British Columbia. Working plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.

Phase Three renovations to the existing health care facility and Columbia Tower which includes: upgrades and expansion of the services (Clinical programs) spread over 30,000 NSM (approx.) located in the three buildings, HCC, CT and ED, to be implemented in various phases ensuring continuity of ongoing operations of the hospital. The existing buildings, HCC, CT and ED, are around 30-40 years old and most of the components, systems and equipment are original and not designed in accordance with the current Standards. The scope also includes associated infrastructure replacement and upgrades meeting the code requirements and having uniformity of services across campus. TIMELINE: A request for proposal, closed in March 2024 for consultant services for Managing Consultant (Architect) and Coordinating Professional Services, Functional Programming, Clinical Planning, Architecture, Interior Design, Structural, Seismic, Mechanical, Electrical, Security, Systems Integration and BMS, Commissioning, Landscape, Sustainability and Resilience, Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), Civil, Traffic, Code, Acoustic, Building Envelope, Elevator, Hardware, Food Services, Wayfinding and Signage, Building Information Management (BIM) and Asset Management and a preferred firm has been chosen. All Phase Three renovation works are dependent on programs in the existing buildings moving to the new ACT and vacating space. As part of the Phase Three Design Services scope, the Managing Consultant is required to provide design services and Construction Manager (CM) (to be engaged by Authority) will provide input on the constructability, cost estimation, phasing and scheduling services along with the other construction management services as detailed under scope of service. Managing Consultant to work with the Authority and CM to finalize design including city permits, and the planning and phasing schedule for the Phase Three renovation work. As part of design services, the Consultant will provide tender packages for the various future renovations on behalf of the Authority. Construction schedule may be confirmed in summer 2024. * A preferred proponent for the consultant services for Managing Consultant has been awarded to HDR Architecture. *The Phase Two project is currently under construction. *The overall budget for all three phases is approximately $1.49 billion.
