The primary function of the CSO Facilities is to screen, settle, skim, and disinfect combined sewer/storm water during rain events before Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) NPDES permitted CSO discharges. These CSO Facilities play a vital role in keeping combined sewer water out of residents of the City of Detroit's basements.
