Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to begin before October 2019. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Online Q & A: October 30, 2018 4:00 P.M (Pacific) Response Format: Electronic Only POLB is seeking a Consultant to provide professional services to develop a Bid Package and Construction Support Services for hazardous material abatement of the Transit Shed at Berths D48-D50 to render the facility safe for occupancy and operation. Due to the various hazardous materials, the Transit Shed is currently inaccessible and unusable. All work by Consultant and Contractor within the Transit Shed shall comply with all applicable OSHA and South Coast Air Quality Management District requirements. Personnel entering the Transit Shed will need to be properly trained in working in an asbestos contaminated material environment and wear appropriate personal protection devices. Consultant shall be responsible for addressing the different hazardous materials, levels of contamination, and disposal of materials meeting all applicable requirements to prepare the Bid Package that will allow a Contractor to properly abate the Transit Shed. Consultant work also includes performing site investigations needed to quantify the abandoned material and equipment and the containerized materials remaining from previous cleanup efforts, and develop a detailed technical specification to dispose these items to an approved landfill facility.
