Site work for a mixed-use development in Scarborough, Ontario. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and sidewalk / parking lot.
The Pan Am Path is a multi-use recreational trail network which spans across the City of Toronto mainly through river valley corridors and along hydro corridors with certain sections detouring along municipal roads. In partnership with the City of Toronto, TRCA is undertaking a trail connection project within Morningside Park in order to develop an important connection to the Pan Am Path through the Highland Creek Valley Corridor. The proposed design is being prepared by Aquafor Beech Limited. Implementation of the project will be divided into three phases over multiple years. Phase 1 of the project includes: - Construction of three Cor-Ten steel pedestrian bridges, with concrete spread footings. - Each bridge has a span length of 60 metres. -Bridge #3 has an additional 24 m long steel ramp (see plan). - Temporary construction bridges are required for installation of the abutments. -Construction of a 4 metre wide multi-use trail between the bridges to establish the Pan Am Path connection through Morningside Park. Approximately 420 metres of asphalt trail will be constructed under Phase 1. - Installation of impressed concrete rest nodes along the multi-use trail. The rest nodes will include park amenities such as benches and bike locks. The scope of work will include, but is not necessarily limited to, the supply of all labour, material, supervision and equipment necessary to implement Phase 1 of the Project as per the detailed design drawing set prepared by Aquafor Beech Limited. Phase 1 of the Project consists of, but is not necessarily limited to, the following general components: - Site security and perimeter fencing installation - Pedestrian and vehicular traffic control - Tree removal/protection/hoarding - Clearing and grubbing - Establish access route along existing granular trails (the existing infrastructure includes granular access roads used by Toronto Water) - Installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment control (ESC) measures along access route and staging stockpiling area to protect natural areas - Installation and removal of temporary construction bridge crossings over Highland Creek (see plan) - Installation of bridge spread-footing abutments - Fabrication and installation of 60 m long COR-TEN steel truss pedestrian bridges including granular and/or COR-TEN steel approach ramps - Installation of new multi-use asphalt trails - Installation of rest nodes and amenities (e.g. benches, bike locks, etc.) - Interim site restoration including installation of topsoil, Terraseeding, and erosion control blankets
